Local Adventures: When Being “Too Flexible” Backfires

February 19, 2026

A Visit to Family Friendly Chiropractic

Apparently… you can be too flexible for your own good.

I’ve always been able to palm the floor on a toe touch. I can still drop into the splits. I stretch constantly. Twist. Pop. Crack. I’ve basically considered myself a “seasoned cracka,” if you will.

So when my shoulder started hurting a couple weeks ago, I brushed it off. I assumed I had slept on it weird. Maybe lifted something wrong. Maybe just mom-life tension.

But this wasn’t normal soreness.

It was raging, can’t-function, something-is-not-right pain.

I kept trying to stretch it out. Roll it. Snap it. Release it. And no matter what I did, I could not get relief. That’s when I finally admitted something was off and scheduled an appointment at Family Friendly Chiropractic. https://familyfriendlychiro.com/

Turns out?
My shoulder was partially dislocated from hyperextension stretching.

No accident. No dramatic story. Just me stretching it one too many times.

Dr. Dean explained what was happening, adjusted it, and got everything back where it belonged. Immediate difference. Now I’m in that “hurting and healing” phase — fighting every urge to stretch it back into shape and actually letting it recover properly.

What stood out most wasn’t just the treatment — it was the atmosphere.

The boys were completely comfortable. They were entertained. The office genuinely felt welcoming to families (not the “please keep your kids quiet” vibe some medical offices have). You could tell they were used to supporting parents, kids, and real-life chaos.

And for anyone navigating insurance changes — especially if chiropractic coverage isn’t what it used to be — I was pleasantly surprised by how affordable their care was for the quality of service.

Sometimes local adventures aren’t splash pads and sushi nights.

Sometimes they’re the humbling, take-care-of-yourself kind.

And this one was a reminder that listening to your body matters.
