A Late-Night Movie at AMC Coon Rapids (Showplace 16 Forever 😉)

This past week’s Kid Date was officially Brody’s choice — which meant I happily showed up for a YouTuber-turned-movie director and star that he has quite literally grown up watching: Markiplier.

Was the movie at 9:15 PM on a school night?
Yes.

Did I quietly whisper, “This better be good,” while buying popcorn?
Also yes.

And in full transparency, I genuinely thought we were heading into a documentary. I was mentally prepared for something serious and educational… only to realize very quickly that this was not that. 😂

But honestly? I loved every second of letting him take the lead.

There’s something really powerful about stepping into your older child’s world instead of always asking them to step into yours. Watching him light up while explaining the backstory, the creator, the hype around the film — it reminded me that Kid Dates evolve. They grow up just like our kids do.

The toddler years were parks and indoor play spaces.
The elementary years were ice cream stops and bowling nights.
And now? It’s late-night premieres and YouTube legends on the big screen.

And for the record… it will always be Coon Rapids Showplace 16 to me. I know it’s AMC Theatres now, but some names are forever.
