If you’re looking for something different to do with your kids—especially those “almost grown but still want to hang out” ages—this is your sign.
We recently tried Unsolved Case Files, and I’m not exaggerating when I say… we are HOOKED.
What started as a simple “let’s try something new” night turned into full-on detective mode.
𧩠Not Your Typical Game Night
This isn’t a board game.
It’s not something you breeze through in 20 minutes.
It’s interactive, immersive, and honestly feels more like stepping into your own crime show.
You’re digging through:
• Evidence
• Interviews
• Clues
• Case files
Trying to figure out what actually happened—and who’s telling the truth.
π¨π©π§π¦ Real Connection Time (Without Forcing It)
My (almost adult π) son asked to do this together… and we ended up sitting there way longer than expected, completely locked in.
Debating theories.
Second guessing each other.
Laughing.
Actually connecting.
And the best part?
No pressure. No “forced family time.”
Just… genuinely fun.
π§ Why It Works So Well
This is one of those rare activities that hits multiple ages at once:
βοΈ Older kids feel engaged (not bored)
βοΈ Parents actually enjoy it too
βοΈ It encourages thinking, problem-solving, and teamwork
βοΈ It naturally creates conversation
It’s the kind of activity where everyone is involved—and no one is reaching for their phone.
π€ A Different Kind of #KidDate
If you’ve been following along, you know I talk about #KidDate a lot.
This is a perfect example.
It doesn’t have to be:
• Expensive
• Out of the house
• Overplanned
Sometimes it’s just about being intentional and doing something your kids are actually excited about.
(This one = staycation version π€)
π― Final Thoughts
Honestly, I didn’t expect to love this as much as I did—but it turned into one of our favorite “at home” family nights.
If you have older kids (or even teens), this is 100% worth trying.
π¬ Have you tried Unsolved Case Files yet?
Which one should we do next?!
π Pro Tip for Parents
Set aside more time than you think—you’ll get pulled in fast.
