The Haircut Win I Didn’t Think Was Possible (Mom Victory Moment)

April 2, 2026

To anyone following along with mom life over here…

This was a BIG one.

Both boys sat in the chair.
On their own.
No tears.

I’m not exaggerating when I say this felt like a top-tier mom win.

🏆 A “Small” Moment That Felt Huge

If you know, you know.

Haircuts with little kids aren’t always easy—especially when they’re not fans of the process.

We’ve had our share of:
• Wiggles
• Tears
• Quick exits

So the fact that both boys sat calmly and made it through?

Major milestone.

🏡 The Secret: Practice at Home

This didn’t happen overnight.

We actually stopped going in for a while and spent the fall and winter doing at-home practice cuts.

Nothing fancy—just getting them comfortable with:
• The clippers
• Sitting still
• The overall experience

And it paid off in the best way.

💇‍♂️ Back to the Salon (and Crushing It)

When we finally went back in, everything clicked.

We went to Great Clips in Circle Pines, and I truly think having the right environment made all the difference.

They were:
• Patient
• Kind
• Efficient
• Totally used to working with kids

The boys were ready—but the team there helped seal the deal.

They sat.
They stayed calm.
They did AMAZING.

And as a mom… I was sitting there like 🥹😭🥰

🙌 Shoutout to the Stylists

Huge shoutout to the ladies who made this such a positive experience.

That kind of patience and energy matters more than anything—especially with younger kids.

We will absolutely be back.

💖 Real Mom Life Moment

Not to pat myself on the back too much… but I’m calling this one a win.

Sometimes parenting is just:
• Trying things
• Adjusting
• Practicing
• Celebrating the little victories

And this one felt BIG.

(Also… I may or may not have felt like I deserved a celebratory margarita after 😂)

📌 Pro Tip for Parents

If your kids struggle with haircuts:

👉 Try practicing at home first
👉 Keep it low-pressure
👉 Let them build confidence slowly

It can make a HUGE difference when you go back in.
